Hong Kong Friend, and Dim Sum Experience

I got in touch with a friend met in Australia.
My friend Jac,
While living the backpacker life at Bundaberg Farm in Australia, although our rooms were different,
whenever we returned from farm work to the backpacker’s lodge, we often chatted, shared food, and got along well.

When I left Bundaberg,
I still remember the taste of the green curry she made for me.
A coconut-infused, hearty green curry.
Such a kind and generous friend.

Tsim Sha Tsui Station
I arranged to meet my friend in Tsim Sha Tsui.
My friend lived in the northern part of Hong Kong, far from the city center,
but she came all the way to the city for me.

Tsim Sha Tsui Station
As befitting the bustling central area of Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui Station was crowded with many people.
Thanks to my friend’s meticulous instructions, I easily found my way to the meeting place.

My friend Jac
Meeting my friend after a long time, she had changed a lot.
In Australia, Jac had a childlike appearance with short hair,
But seeing Jac again after precisely three years, she looked much more mature, with considerably longer hair.

Dim Sum Restaurant Menu
When I expressed my desire to eat proper dim sum,
my friend took me to a place she knew well.

Pre-meal Bread
The atmosphere was different from the dim sum restaurant at IFC Mall yesterday.
The scale was much larger, and the serving staff seemed more sophisticated.

Delicious Pre-meal Bread
With each bite, my friend kindly explained what each dish was and its significance,
But even after ten years, I can’t recall all the details.
Still, we had many conversations while enjoying each dish.

Remembered as Oolong Tea. It’s blurry because I hurriedly took it.
Hong Kong serves hot tea everywhere you go.
Even in Korea, I always drink boiled water, and even in the hot summer weather, I enjoy hot Americano,
so Hong Kong’s warm tea culture was delicious and appealing to me.

Rice Roll Shaped Like Dumplings
I thought rice rolls would be round like dumplings or have a head shape,
but there were surprisingly diverse varieties.
Rice rolls had a unique soft texture and were tightly filled, providing a different chewing experience.

Various Dim Sum
Dim sum with a different visual from yesterday continued to appear.
We ordered from the menu, sometimes placed orders with passing waitstaff,
and at times, we picked dim sum directly from the cart passing by.

Experiencing the dim sum culture firsthand was fascinating and enjoyable.

Dim Sum Wrapped in Banana Leaf, resembling Fist Rice Balls
Dim sum wrapped in banana leaves, resembling rice cakes or fist-sized rice balls.
Made by wrapping banana leaves, the dim sum had a texture similar to rice cakes or fist-sized rice balls.
Amidst that, the lingering scent of the leaves even after swallowing was impressive.

Transparent Dim Sum
There were many dim sum varieties with unknown names.
However, each had its unique flavor.
The experience of choosing and eating dim sum was enjoyable!

Tasting, Selecting Dim Sum
At an affordable price, we could eat dim sum to our heart’s content.
It was fascinating whenever my friend ordered dim sum with Hong Kong grouper.
Ordering dim sum with Hong Kong grouper and experiencing the feeling of eating with locals and trying Hong Kong cuisine,
that’s why you travel!

Friend’s Sightseeing Guide
Since we had to part ways after lunch, my friend, regretting the separation, introduced me to Hong Kong’s attractions not mentioned in the guidebook I had.
She also emphasized the must-try delicious items.
Although I couldn’t visit all of them due to time constraints, the sentiment was beautiful.
Well, my friend was always beautiful!

Dim Sum Bill
The dim sum bill was not written with numbers or letters;
instead, it was stamped with a stamp corresponding to the number of dim sum consumed.

Dim sum,
from start to finish, is delicious, cute, and enjoyable food.

I still occasionally contact my friend to ask about her well-being.
If I visit Hong Kong again, I must suggest going for dim sum.
