Dust Storm in Sydney

9 AM in the morning.
I left the house to go to work, but as soon as I stepped out the door, I doubted my own eyes.
The sky, the earth, and the whole world had turned ‘Yellow’.

Sydney dust storm. This is a photo of Sydney as it really is, without any photo editing.
In Australia, especially in Sydney, the sky is usually cloudless and blue, but seeing the whole world in yellow made me feel a little scared.

Come to think of it, there are deserts in Australia, and Sydney is not too far away.
So it’s possible that there could be a dust storm,
but I realized that I had been living in such good weather all this time without realizing it.
We often don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone.
The preciousness of it.

Although it was a bit awkward to walk to the restaurant for work, I couldn’t skip work.
The commute to work takes about 40 minutes on foot. You walked without a mask.

When I arrived at the restaurant, my throat felt dry and scratchy, as if I had swallowed a handful of sand.
I felt like I had to eat pork belly after work to remove it all.

Fortunately, the weather cleared up after lunch, and by evening, Sydney’s original sunny weather had returned.
It was only one day, but thanks to the weather, I felt like I had lived a special Sydney experience.
I didn’t know it at the time, but the dust storm was such a big issue that it was reported on the news in Korea as well.
